Journeyman defender Pascal Chimbonda looks set to join Blackburn Rovers, as they have agreed a £2 million fee to take the right-back to Ewood Park.

The Frenchman has fallen down the pecking order at White Hart Lane with Vedran Corluka, Alan Hutton, and new signing Kyle Naughton all thought to be preferred to him.

The right-back only re-joined Tottenham in January, having left the London club to sign for Roy Keane at Sunderland last summer. He originally joined Spurs in 2007 after a two-year stint at Wigan Athletic.

Chimbonda's representative, Willie McKay, said the deal was close to being completed and the right-back was set to undertake a medical at Blackburn.

"We are in the process of sorting things out," McKay told Sky Sports.

"Pascal is travelling up to Blackburn and will hopefully undergo a medical tomorrow if everything is agreed."

The transfer could mean that Stephen Warnock is granted permission to leave the club, with Aston Villa reprtedly having tabled a bid for the ex-Liverpool defender.
