Dimitar Berbatov has spoken of his relief that the January transfer window has now passed.

The Bulgarian's long-term future at White Hart Lane remains the subject of intense speculation, with Manchester United continually linked.

Berbatov has conceded that the consistent rumours in January may have affected his game, but is sure that he will now be able to fully concentrate on performing for Juande Ramos' side.

"Who knows what the future holds? I don't know. I am happy at Tottenham, at the moment," he said.

"I happy that the speculation is over, now that the transfer window has closed. I can now concentrate fully on my game.

"Sometimes all this talk and rumours mess with your head. Yes [it may have affected my game during January].

"Sometimes you just want to be left alone so you can play your game. But it is over now."

Berbatov went on to discuss Jermain Defoe's transfer to Portsmouth, admitting that the move came as a surprise.

"I was surprised. I was under the impression that he was going to stay with us," he continued.

"But in the last moment of the transfer window, he was gone. I wish him all the best because he is a great talent and it was a pleasure to work with him."
